Yemen vs Singapore 19/11/19

19 November 2019

Yemen will look to stretch their unbeaten home run to three games (W1, D1) when they take on Singapore at the Sheikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium in 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers (WCQ).

The hosts are currently sitting one point adrift of second-placed Uzbekistan, and a victory would increase their chances of securing the top-two finish in Group D. After a disappointing start to their qualifying campaign that has seen them pick up two points from the opening three Group D matches (D2, L1), they have kick-started their journey to Qatar last time out, beating Palestina at home by a narrow 1-0 scoreline. It was the first time in the ongoing campaign that they’ve managed to keep a clean sheet after conceding at least two goals in all three of their previous WCQ fixtures. The Red Devils have established themselves as ‘first-half specialists,’ scoring four of their total five WCQ goals before the halftime break.

Meanwhile, the visitors have enjoyed a decent start to their qualifying campaign (W1, D1), but they’ve failed to build on that, losing both of their previous WCQ games. Interestingly, both of those defeats have seen them concede precisely one goal in the first half and two more after the break. Just like Yemen, most of Singapore’s goals have arrived in the first 45 minutes, with four of five goals they’ve netted so far coming before halftime. However, the Lions have conceded at least one goal in the first half in all four of their last WCQ matches, while keeping a clean sheet in the second half twice.
