Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United 30/01/19

30 January 2019

The Premier League mid-table clash between Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United that will take place at the Molineux Stadium will see the visitors trying to bring a three-game road losing run to an end.

Although they’ve managed to stun some of the best EPL sides, the returnees have been struggling for consistency for the majority of the campaign. Their ups and downs have seen them winning and losing in cycles. Nuno Espirito Santo’s players have gone from two straight home defeats to two consecutive home triumphs across all competitions. Wolves find it quite difficult to bounce back when caught on the back foot. The Wanderers have secured just four points in seven home encounters in which they’ve conceded the first goal. Three of Wolverhampton’s five home wins have seen them beating their rivals to nil, with Wolves scoring over 1.5 goals per match four times in the process.

Just like their opponents, the Hammers have not been able to maintain consistency throughout the season. The visitors come into this meeting following two successive losses across all competitions in which they’ve scored two while conceding six goals along the way. After racking up a five-game road unbeaten run (W3, D2), the Irons have suffered three consecutive defeats in domestic competitions, failing to find the net twice in the process. Troubled by the fact his players have struggled to keep a clean sheet in 11 of 13 competitive road games so far, Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to see his side improving in a defensive aspect. Meanwhile, the Argentinean can’t complain about his team’s attacking performances as West Ham scored over 1.5 goals in all of their five PL away victories.
