Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Fulham 04/05/19

4 May 2019

An improving Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome a resurgent Fulham side to the Molineux Stadium hoping to stretch their unbeaten Premier League home run to eight games (W6, D2).

After enduring a challenging period that has seen them wrapped up one win in four PL outings (W1, D1, L2), the hosts have posted back-to-back league wins in the build-up to this encounter, as they currently sit seventh in the table. Notably, Wolves have racked up an impressive ten-game unbeaten home streak across all competitions (W8, D2), bagging over 1.5 match goals nine times during the run. Surprisingly though, all three of the Wanderers’ PL home failures in 2019 have come against teams from the bottom half of the table (D2, L1), with each of them featuring under 2.5 goals. If Nuno Espirito Santo’s players win here, it would probably Fulham concede over 1.5 goals, given the fact all 11 of Wolves’ previous PL wins saw them score 2+ match goals.

Meanwhile, the visitors seem to have hit form too late considering they’ve already on their way back to Championship. After losing all chances of avoiding relegation, the Cottagers have racked up a three-game PL winning streak, and all three of those victories have been accompanied by a clean sheet. Nonetheless, they remain the league’s worst defensive having allowed 76 goals so far on an average of 2.11 goals conceded per match. Also, before clinching a narrow 1-0 win over Bournemouth on their last PL road trip, Scott Parker’s men have suffered seven straight away defeats in 2019, conceding over 1.5 match goals across all of those games. Importantly, the Whites have not only sustained three losses on their last four competitive visits to this venue (D1, L3), but they’ve managed to secure just one triumph on 11 of their meetings here in the 21st century (W1, D3, L7).
