Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Arsenal 25/04/19

25 April 2019

Rocked by a disappointing 3-2 home loss to Crystal Palace, Arsenal travel to the Molineux Stadium to face-off Wolverhampton Wanderers as they continue their pursuit of the Champions League promotion.

The hosts come into this meeting off the back of a goalless draw with Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend, as they currently sit 10th with a one-point deficit to seventh-placed Everton. In spite of the fact the Wanderers have picked up just one win in their last five Premier League outings (W1, D2, L2), they have racked up a nine-game unbeaten home run across all competitions in the build-up to this encounter (W7, D2) with three of those triumphs coming against teams from the upper half of the table. What’s more, all seven of Wolves’ previous home triumphs have seen them score 2+ match goals, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men keeping just two clean sheets in the process.

Meanwhile, the visitors come into this clash determined to stretch their road winning streak against Wolverhampton to six, with all five of their previous victories at this venue saw them scoring two or more goals. However, one problem Unai Emery has to deal with ahead of this fixture is Arsenal’s immense problems away from home that have seen them secured just three wins in seven of their previous competitive away games (W3, D1, L3). Interestingly, four of the Gunners’ last five away triumphs have seen them beating their rivals by a narrow 1-goal margin, with both of their previous away wins ended with the identical 1-0 scoreline. Another potential worry for the North Londoners is that they’ve failed to preserve a clean slate on eight successive road trips before securing the aforementioned successes.
