Wolfsburg vs Bayern Munich 20/10/18
20 October 2018
The two struggling sides are set to face-off against each other at the Volkswagen Arena, with Wolfsburg looking to take on Bayern Munich.
After a promising start of the season, which saw them securing two successive league triumphs, the Wolves have slowed down in the following five Bundesliga encounters. Considering the fact, they’ve conceded at least one goal in six out of seven competitive games, the 2009 Bundesliga champions have the second-worst defensive record after TSG Hoffenheim and Augsburg who are yet to keep a clean sheet. Moreover, Wolfsburg have conceded a minimum of two goals in their last three home matches although they’ve managed to score in each of those encounters.
The Bavarians, on the other hand, are not going through the best of times, having failed to clinch a victory in three consecutive Bundesliga clashes, with Niko Kovac urging his players to bounce back from a shameful 3-0 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach at the Allianz Arena just before the international break. Unlike some previous seasons, the Reds are struggling to keep a clean sheet although they’ve done that two times in a row on the road before suffering a 2-0 loss to Hertha Berlin. The defending champions already trail Borussia Dortmund by four points, and in case of another disappointing result, Kovac’s job might be on the line.
Ismail Azzaoui, Jeffrey Bruma, Ignacio Camacho, Felix Klaus, and Josuha Guilavogui are doubts, as all are facing some physical problems. As for the visitors, David Alaba, Rafinha, Corentin Tolisso, and Kingsley Coman are ruled out by injuries, while the appearance of Leon Goretzka still hangs in the balance.
