Melbourne City will be looking to post a third consecutive win in their A-League H2Hs with Wester United when the two sides meet at Jubilee Oval. Both of their previous top-flight H2Hs have featured over 2.5 goals and both sides hitting the net.

The hosts take the field after putting together three A-League wins, all of which saw them win the first half ‘to nil’ and score over 1.5 goals at FT. At home in A-League, none of United’s last 11 fixtures has ended in a draw (W5, L6), with nine seeing the winner on the day score at least two goals. Yet, slow-starting Western United have shipped the opener in eight of 12 home matches in the league and went on to lose six such games (W2). Meanwhile, the visitors have avoided defeat in two league encounters in the build-up to this trip (W1, D1), scoring precisely two goals apiece. Four of City’s last six A-League matches have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. But, away from home, Erick Mombaerts’ men have won only two of their previous seven league outings (D1, L4), shipping over 1.5 goals on six of those occasions. If they concede the opening goal as they did in six of 12 league trips this term, it may not be the last – Melbourne City lost just three applicable games (W2, D1).
