West Ham United vs Manchester United 22/09/19
22 September 2019
Sunday’s Premier League (PL) action kicks off at the Olympic Stadium where an improving West Ham United tackle Manchester United.
After a 5-0 home demolition to Manchester City in the PL opener, the hosts have drastically improved their game, winning two of the subsequent four league outings (W2, D2). Although they go into this fixture off the back of a goalless away draw with Aston Villa, the Hammers have shown encouraging signs in the attack in the preceding two league games, scoring 2+ match goals in both of their triumphs over Watford and Norwich City. Still, the Irons face an uphill task here, as they’ve pulled off just one win in their previous seven competitive H2Hs (W1, D2, L4). Their PL home H2H record is slightly more promising, as West Ham outplayed United in two of their last four league clashes here (W2, D1, L1).
Meanwhile, fresh from a 1-0 home win over Astana in midweek’s Europa League clash, the visitors will be determined to put together two PL wins since the beginning of March. Before a narrow 1-0 home triumph over Leicester City last weekend, the Red Devils have struggled to pick up a league win three times in a row (D2, L1). Both of their draws in that period have come away from home and have ended with the same 1-1 scoreline, with United taking a one-goal lead into the halftime before blowing it inside the opening 15 minutes of the second half. It’s been a while since United last won away from home in the PL, as they’ve struggled to clinch a victory on the road since a 3-1 triumph over Crystal Palace back in February (D3, L3).
