Watford vs Tottenham Hotspur 02/09/18

02 September 2018

The two out of just four teams that have won all three matches in the league so far will face off against each other at the Vicarage Road, with Watford preparing to take on Tottenham Hotspur. The Hornets have been outstanding this season in both Premier League and the Carabao Cup, scoring nine goals in four games, including two against Reading during the midweek that saw them advance to the next stage of the most prestigious cup competition in England. Meanwhile, in the Premier League, the Golden Boys have opened the season with a 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at home, after which they defeated Burnley by three goals to one, and Crystal Palance by two goals to one. As for Tottenham, they proved their quality and maturity in the opening three rounds, comfortably securing all three points against Newcastle United and Fulham, before demolishing Manchester United at the Old Trafford by three goals to nil. Throughout the past couple of years, the Spurs have been majestic during the first half of the season but failed to keep up the pace during the spring. However, Mauricio Pochettino hopes his players can maintain continuity during the whole campaign now, and challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League trophy.

Javi Gracia won’t have the injured Younès Kaboul at his disposal, while Vincent Janssen, Harry Winks, Victor Wanyama, and Heung-Min Son won’t be able to play for the visitors.
