Watford vs Leicester City 20/06/20

20 June 2020

Watford and Leicester City will face off against each other at the Vicarage Road this weekend in a potentially exciting Premier League (PL) contest. Notably, none of their last nine top-flight H2Hs has ended in a draw, with Leicester enjoying much more success in those clashes (W6, L3).

The hosts sit level on points with 18th-placed Bournemouth after picking up just one triumph in their last seven league fixtures (D2, L4). Although they’ve secured only a single win from their three previous PL home matches (D1, L1), the Hornets should be able to rely on the fact that they’ve racked up three consecutive PL home wins against Leicester (W3), all of which have produced the identical 2-1 scoreline. However, Watford’s first-half performances require an improvement, given that Nigel Pearson’s men have managed just five of their 16 PL home goals scored so far before the halftime break (the division’s third joint-low).

As for the visitors, despite winning only once in their last five PL fixtures (D2, L2), Leicester still hold a massive eight-point lead over fifth-placed Manchester United and are on their way of securing the Champions League qualification for the next season. None of Leicester’s last four PL games saw both teams score, with three of those matches featuring under 1.5 goals in total. Winless in three consecutive PL away games (D1, L2), the Foxes will hope to avoid conceding the opening goal here since they managed just a single point from four PL road trips in which they’ve shipped the opener (D1, L3).
