Watford vs Arsenal 15/09/19

15 September 2019

Sunday’s Premier League (PL) action ends at Vicarage Road as the out-of-form Watford side take on Arsenal.

A poor haul of one point from the opening four PL fixtures nails the hosts to the bottom of the table ahead of this round. The Hornets have lost both of their home games this term, conceding three goals apiece while scoring barely one in total. Watford’s last PL home win dates back to the beginning of April (a 4-1 demolition of Fulham) after which they’ve lost five of six subsequent home league matches (D1, L5). Such a trend seems unlikely to end here, as they’ve lost six of seven home H2Hs since the turn of the millennium, four of which have seen them allow over 2.5 goals.

The visitors have, on the other hand, the opening two league games but have struggled to build on that, failing to pick up a victory in the last two PL outings (D1, L1). After a narrow 1-0 away win over Newcastle in the PL curtain-raiser, all of their remaining three league games have featured over 2.5 goals and saw both teams score. A potential worry for the traveling side could be that they’ve struggled to keep a clean sheet in eight of ten PL trips since the turn of the year, allowing 2+ match goals three times though. Still, the North Londoners will now look to post their fourth consecutive PL win over Watford, beating the Hornets to nil in each of their previous three triumphs.
