Vissel Kobe vs Yokohama Marinos 29/08/20

29 August 2020

Vissel Kobe will be looking to bring a three-game losing J1 League run against Yokohama Marinos when the two clubs lock horns at the Noevir Stadium this weekend.

The hosts have been an exciting team to watch lately, with all six of their previous J1 League fixtures seeing over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet, including a 2-2 home draw with Kawasaki last time out. However, ‘Ushi’ are now winless in four consecutive home league matches (D1, L3), having conceded over 1.5 goals on each of those occasions. Interrupting that frustrating run will face another uphill task, as Kobe take on a side they’ve failed to win against in all seven of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (D2, L5). It goes from bad to worse for Vissel, given they’ve drawn a blank in their last four such match-ups.

Meanwhile, the visitors have overseen an upturn in form recently, going from back-to-back J1 League outings without a win (D1, L1) to three successive victories. High scoring has been a theme for the ‘Marinos’ during that three-game winning streak, as they’ve netted over 2.5 goals in each though failing to keep a clean sheet. Away from home in J1 League, none of Yokohama’s last five clashes has ended in a draw (W2, L3), with three of those encounters seeing over 3.5 goals and both teams score. Curiously, five of their six top-flight trips this season have seen the opponents head into the half-time break on level terms.
