Valencia vs Rayo Vallecano 24/11/18

24 November 2018

Valencia will host Rayo Vallecano at the Estadio de Mestalla, desperately hoping to wrap up their first home victory this season.

With a record of two wins, eight draws, and two losses, the Bats currently occupy the 15th place, with a 4-point lead over relegation zone based sides. Goals have been in short supply in all Valencia’s La Liga clashes this season, with the Oranges failing to score five times in the opening 12 games while struggling to keep a clean sheet seven times during the run. Moreover, the hosts are the only team in the Spanish top flight that managed a brace just once this season, as they score a miserly average of 0.67 goals per match. Additionally, five out of the previous six Valencia’s home encounters ended in a draw, before Girona took a whole prey with a narrow 1-0 victory.

On the other hand, the visitors are going through a dreadful spell, as they’ve failed to secure all three points in the last nine La Liga matches. Along with Athletic Bilbao, Los Franjirrojos are the only team in the league that only kept one clean sheet in the opening 12 fixtures, with Huesca being the only side with a worse record. However, Los Vallecanos have conceded just six goals in the past five road clashes although they’ve suffered three defeats during the run. Furthermore, Michel’s players have bagged one brace away from home so far, failing to find the back of the net two times in the process. A 40% of Vallecano’s road meetings have produced a minimum of three goals, while Valencia are yet to feature in a match with more than two goals in front of the home crowd.
