Valencia vs Getafe 26/09/19

26 September 2019

Valencia and Getafe will face-off at the Estadio de Mestalla in a match that will see the Bats trying to post their first La Liga (LL) home triumph in H2Hs since 2015.

The hosts are not enjoying the best of times, having won just one of the opening five LL matches (W1, D2, L2). Valencia’s struggling in the final third that tormented Marcelino Garcia Toral for the most of last season continues to trouble the home side. The Bats have scored only six LL goals this term, netting over 1.5 match goals just twice in the first five games of the campaign. Still, the Oranges are unbeaten at home this season (W1, D2), with both of their home draws ending with the same 1-1 scoreline. Such form should encourage home fans who saw their side win just one of their previous five LL H2Hs with Getafe at this venue (W1, D2, L2). Hitting back after allowing the first goal seems to be Valencia’s biggest issue this season, as they’ve failed to return a single point from two games in which they’ve conceded first.

Meanwhile, the visitors continue to cause trouble to their opponents in the Spanish top division this term, having lost just one of five LL games in the 2019/20 campaign (W1, D3, L1). While their only league defeat came in the LL curtain-raiser (a 1-0 away loss to Atletico Madrid), all three of Getafe’s LL stalemates have ended with the same 1-1 scoreline. But, they go into this encounter off the back of a stunning 4-2 home triumph over Mallorca, which was only the third time in their last ten LL matches that they’ve managed to score more than one goal. Still, winning away from home appears to be Getafe’s ‘Achilles heel’ considering they’ve won just one of their previous 11 LL trips (W1, D6, L4).
