Valencia vs Getafe 30/01/19

30 January 2019

The return leg of the Copa del Rey quarter-finals that will take place at the Estadio de Mestalla will see Valencia trying to overcome a 1-0 loss to Getafe in the first leg.

The hosts come into this meeting with a nine-game home unbeaten run across all competitions (W7, D2) during which they scored 19 goals while conceding just five in the process. Apart from promising attacking displays that have seen his players score over 1.5 goals per match in four of their last five home competitive outings, Marcelino Garcia Toral’s can be more than happy with the way his defense performed at Mestalla in the past two months. Not only the Bats kept a clean sheet in four of their last nine home clashes, but they’ve restricted their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match. However, the Oranges have won just one of the previous four H2H meetings with Getafe at this venue (W1, D1, L2), conceding over 1.5 goals per match three times in the sequence.

Last weekend’s 2-0 road defeat to Atletico Madrid has brought Getafe’s five-game unbeaten run to an end (W4, D1), and it was also the fourth time this season they’ve allowed over 1.5 goals per match in all competitions. It was also only their second road defeat this term after a suffering a 2-0 loss to Real Madrid on the opening matchday. However, although the Azulones rarely loss away from home, they are having problems to secure all three points. Seven out of Getafe’s 13 competitive road trips have ended without a winner, with all of those stalemates finishing with the identical 1-1 scoreline. ose Bordalas’ main concern is his team’s difficulty in the final third that has seen them score under 1.5 goals per match on six occasions in their last seven road encounters.
