Urawa Red Diamonds vs Ulsan Hyundai 19/06/19

19 June 2019

Urawa Red Diamonds come face-to-face with Ulsan Hyundai at Saitama Stadium for the first leg of their AFC Champions League last-16 tie.

Although they’ve struggled to impress in the group stage (W3, D1, L2), the hosts have managed to secure their place in the round of 16 thanks to back-to-back wins in their last two games in Group G. Importantly, two of Urawa’s three wins at the competition have come at home, with both of them ending with the same 3-0 scoreline. But, the Red Devils have endured mixed fortunes in their last three outings (W1, D1, L1), with two of those matches producing over 2.5 goals. Also, Tsuyoshi Otsuki can’t be happy with his team’s recent home form (W2, L3). However, Saitama Stadium has been a venue of entertainment recently, with all four of Urawa’s last home games featuring over 2.5 goals, although two of them have seen both teams score.

Meanwhile, the visitors have finished top of Group H in spite of ending the group phase with a negative -2 goal difference (W3, D1, L2). Interestingly, all three of Ulsan’s wins at the competition have ended with the same 1-0 scoreline, but none of them has come away from home (D2, L1). Additionally, the Gangs of Asia have struggled to find the net on two of three road trips in the AFC Champions League this campaign, while conceding over 1.5 match goals on two occasions. Goals have not been in short supply for the Iron Maces in their last six away games across all competitions, with all of them producing over 2.5 goals while five seeing both teams score.
