United States vs Mexico 12/09/18
12 September 2018
A biggest CONCACAF derby, the one between the United States and Mexico, is scheduled to take place at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, with the hosts hoping to end a 3-game winless streak against the old rivals.
The Yanks are going through a transition period, with the interim coach Dave Sarachan trying to bring some fresh blood into the squad that struggled to reach the World Cup final tournament despite having a fairly simple qualifying group. The Stars and Stripes have recently suffered a 2-0 defeat to Brazil, which was their second loss in the last three matches, with the other one came against the Republic of Ireland back in June.
Meanwhile, El Tri, who exited the World Cup in the round of 16 after a 2-0 defeat to Brazil, miserably failed in a friendly encounter with Uruguay a few days ago, eventually losing that match by four goals to one. Although Ricardo Ferretti already announced his desire to leave Mexico’s bench as soon as possible and return to Tigres UANL, the Mexican Football Federation is yet to find a suitable solution, which makes things difficult to everyone in the dressing room.
Jozy Altidore, Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley, Chris Wondolowski, Timmy Chandler, Julian Green, and Aron Johannsson areall left out of the US roster, while Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, Andres Guardado, Hector Herrera, Miguel Layun, Carlos Vela, and Giovani Dos Santos won’t feature for the visitors.
