United States vs Jamaica 06/06/19
6 June 2019
The United States’ preparations for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup begins with a warm-up match against Jamaica at the Audi Field in Washington.
USA’s sudden rise has seen them go from four straight games without a victory (D1, L3) to three wins in four games. The hosts are not unbeaten in their last four outings (W3, D1), but all three of their triumphs in that period have been accompanied by a clean sheet. But, Gregg Berhalter’s men have struggled to provide entertainment to their fans lately, with four of their last five matches featuring under 2.5 goals. Also, only one of USA’s previous six games has seen both teams score, with USMNT scoring over 1.5 match goals just twice in the process.
Meanwhile, the visitors have suffered back-to-back defeats ahead of this fixture without finding the net in both. Before Jamaica’s drop-off in form, they have put together three consecutive wins, scoring 12 goals while conceding only one in the process. Also, Reggae Boyz have failed to impress away from home recently, picking up just one win on their last five road trips (W1, D1, L3). Theodore Whitmore’s men have struggled to find the net in all three of their recent road losses, while they’ve scored 2+ match goals in the remaining two away outings in that period.
