Ulsan Hyundai vs Busan 24/05/20

24 May 2020

Ulsan Hyundai and Busan will lock horns at the Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium this weekend, as the teams enter the 2020/21 K League 1 Matchday 3 in contrasting atmospheres.

The hosts have been impressive in the opening two rounds of the 2020/21 K League 1 fixtures, beating Sangju Sangmu 4-0 at home before pulling off a tight 3-2 away victory over Suwon. The current league toppers have proved to be a force to be reckoned with when playing at home over the past 12 months. Indeed, they’ve suffered just a single defeat in their last 16 league matches on home turf (W11, D4, L1), with six of their 11 wins during that sequence yielding a clean sheet. Another blank sheet is definitely on the cards, as they take on a side they’ve managed to shut out in four of their last six competitive home H2Hs (W3, D3).

On the other hand, the visitors have flopped at the beginning of the new club campaign, losing 2-0 to Pohang Steelers on the road on the opening matchday before succumbing 2-1 to Jeonbuk at home last time out. Busan’s form in the early stage of 2020/21 is a sharp contrast to the way they finished off the previous league campaign. Indeed, they won four of their six league matches before the coronavirus pandemic gripped football (D2), shutting out their rivals on four of those occasions. In turn, they’ve lost just once in their last ten competitive road trips (W4, D5), with six of those matches featuring under 2.5 goals.
