Udinese and Borussia Dortmund will face-off at the Stadion Schnabelholz for a friendly encounter that will be their first meeting between these two sides since 2008.

Although it will be their first high-profile summer friendly, the Friulians have struggled to live up to expectations so far this pre-season. They have sustained two defeats in as many matches this summer, losing 2-1 to the Italian lower-league side Ravenna and 3-2 to Al-Hilal. Udinese’s drop-off in form has come after they finished the last season with three consecutive wins, all of which have seen them score two or more goals and concede at least one. Interestingly, all five of Udinese’s last matches have featured goals in both halves, with four of them producing two or more goal in the first half.

Meanwhile, the German giants have won all three of their summer friendlies so far, netting 16 goals while conceding three in the process. BVB go into this meeting off the back of a 3-2 win over Liverpool, which was their fifth consecutive triumph including last season. Also, nine of Dortmund’s last ten games have produced over 2.5 goals, with six of them seeing both teams score. Exceptional in the final third, Lucien Favre’s men have netted 2+ match goals nine times across that period, finding the net inside the first 45 minutes in all nine.
