TSG Hoffenheim vs RB Leipzig 13/06/20

13 June 2020

TSG Hoffenheim welcome RB Leipzig to the PreZero Arena for a potentially ‘high-scoring’ Bundesliga (BL) affair. In fact, each of their three top-flight H2Hs held at this venue has produced over 2.5 goals, with two of them seeing both teams on the scoresheet, too.

Unbeaten in four consecutive top-flight matches (W2, D2), the hosts have returned in contention for Europa League qualification, as they trail sixth-placed Wolfsburg by just two points ahead of the kick-off. But, for Hoffenheim, goals have been in short supply lately, with ‘Die Kraichgauer’ bagging under 1.5 goals in seven of their last ten league fixtures. On the other hand, the PreZero Arena has been a venue of entertainment for the majority of the season, with each of Hoffenheim’s last eight BL games here producing over 2.5 goals. Alfred Schreuder’s tendency to go ‘all-out’ after the halftime break has seen 61.40% (35) of their total 57 BL home goals (scored/conceded) come in the second half of play.

Meanwhile, although they head to Hoffenheim on a run of 11 successive league matches without a loss, third-placed visitors have pulled off just four victories during that period (D7), allowing fifth-placed Bayer Leverkusen to reduce the gap to just three points. However, ‘Die Roten Bullen’ have avoided defeat in their last five BL road trips (W3, D2), shutting their opponent out on four of those occasions while netting over 3.5 goals three times. Still, lapses of concentration after halftime have seen Leipzig ship 67% (ten) of their 15 BL away goals conceded in the second half of play.
