Toulouse vs Ajaccio

Stadium Municipal forms the backdrop for an all-Ligue 1 Coupe de France last-32 tie between Toulouse and Ajaccio.

Toulouse roared their way into the Coupe de France round of 32 courtesy of an overwhelming 7-1 victory over lower-league outfit Lannion, which forms part of an ongoing run of four competitive matches without losing (W3, D1). ‘Le Tefece’ hauled back a 1-0 halftime deficit to hold Brest to a 1-1 home draw last weekend, maintaining their impressive home form of one defeat across their previous seven games (W4, D2). Philippe Montanier’s men have been scoring at will of late, netting 2+ goals in four of their last six outings at the Stadium Municipal, which has been the case in their last three competitive H2Hs against Ajaccio on home turf (W2, D1).

Meanwhile, Ajaccio pulled off a hard-earned 2-1 win at lower-league Jura Sud in the previous Coupe de France round, which remains their solitary competitive win in 2023 (L3). Indeed, the visitors slumped to an embarrassing 7-1 defeat at Monaco last weekend, conceding one goal more than they had in their previous six competitive matches combined. Worryingly for head coach Olivier Pantaloni, his men have picked up just one win in their last six away games across all competitions (D2, L3), scoring under 1.5 goals four times in the process. Ajaccio’s conversion problems could haunt them this weekend, especially considering they’ve drawn a blank on two of their last three visits to Toulouse.
