Tottenham Hotspur vs PSV Eindhoven 07/11/18

07 November 2018

Tottenham Hotspur will host PSV Eindhoven at the Wembley Stadium, hoping to achieve the first victory in the
Champions League this year.

With a record of one draw and two defeats, the Spurs currently trail Inter Milan by five points, and a match
against the reigning Dutch champions is a must-win game for them if looking to keep their chances of advancing to the knockout stage alive. The Premier League giants have had a massive chance to secure all three points against the Nerazzurri on the opening matchday, but they’ve allowed two goals in the final seven minutes, thus losing the encounter 2-1. Against Barcelona in London, Hugo Lloris have conceded four goals, as Tottenham suffered a bad 4-2 beat to the Catalans. Even in the first leg against PSV, Mauricio Pochettino’s players have dropped a goals lead after the 85th minute, with Lloris picking up a straight red card that will prevent him from featuring in the two upcoming duels.

On the other hand, the Farmers have started their Champions League journey off on the wrong foot, having been outclassed by the Catalans at Camp Nou by four goals to nil, after which they’ve dropped a 1-goal lead against Inter, as they currently share the bottom place with Tottenham. Although they’ve been outstanding in the Dutch Eredivisie this season, having secured all 11 victories so far, the Red and Whites are yet to shine in Europe. With 8 goals conceded, Mark Van Bommel’s players have the second-worst defensive record in the Champions League, just like their forthcoming opponents. Apart from a disastrous loss in Catalonia, PSV have notched at least two goals in seven consecutive competitive road matches, which indicates they are not going to arrive in London only to be spectators.
