Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton 12/05/19

12 May 2019

Tottenham Hotspur and Everton go head-to-head for the final clash of this Premier League campaign, as the Spurs need to dodge a failure to secure the Champions League qualification.

The hosts come into this meeting after producing a stunning second-half comeback against Ajax to break into their first-ever Champions League final. Still, the Spurs have overseen little success in their last four PL outings (W1, L3), with all four of those clashes ending with the identical 1-0 scoreline. What’s more, four of Tottenham’s previous five competitive home games have ended with the same 1-0 scoreline, with the North Londoners coming out on top of two (W2, L2). Since moving to the new stadium, Maurizio Pochettino’s men have won three of four PL home matches (W3, L1), preventing their opponents from scoring across all of those triumphs. Also, Tottenham’s last defeat to Everton in London dates back to 2008, after which they’ve pulled off seven wins in ten H2Hs in the English capital (W7, D3).

Meanwhile, the hosts have once again failed to qualify for European competition after another mediocre league campaign. Nonetheless, the Toffees have enjoyed the most successful period of this campaign over their past seven PL outings, clinching five wins since mid-March (W5, D1, L1). Notably, all five of those triumphs have seen them beat their rivals to nil, with Marco Silva’s players netting over 1.5 match goals on four occasions. Interestingly though, the Merseyside outfit failed to achieve a single point in all five competitive away games in 2019 in which they’ve struggled to keep a blank sheet (D1, L4) while all three of their road wins since the turn of the year saw them beat their opponents to nil.
