Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal 04/03/19
04 March 2019
Saturday’s Premier League action starts at the Wembley Stadium as Tottenham Hotspur welcome Arsenal in a massive London clash.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are yet to play out a draw in the league after 28 rounds, which singles them out from all other teams in the English top tier. However, this derby has arrived in the worst possible moment for the hosts considering they’ve entered this fixture carrying two successive PL defeats on their backs. Sitting just four points clear of Arsenal and five more of Man Utd, the Spurs have to stop the bleeding to preserve the Champions League promotion spot. In spite of a minor crisis, Tottenham have racked up a four-game home winning run across all competitions, scoring nine goals while conceding just two in the process. What’s more, the Lilywhites have outplayed the Gunners in both of their previous H2H meetings at home, preventing them from scoring in each.
On the other hand, the visitors seem to be on the right track again having secured three consecutive triumphs across all competitions, including a stunning 5-1 win over Bournemouth in midweek’s game. However, Unai Emery has a lot of reasons to worry when it comes to his team’s away displays, as the Gunners lost four of their last six road trips (W2, L4). Furthermore, Arsenal have lost all of their three road clashes with the Premier League top-four teams so far, allowing 11 goals while scoring four along the way. Unable to find a way to solve his team’s immense defensive problems, Emery has witnessed his players failing to keep a clean sheet on all 13 PL road trips this campaign, which is the worst record in the English top tier. Although they currently sit fourth in the table, the London giants are risking to hand over the last Champions League promotion slot to Manchester United in case of a failure.
