Torino vs AC Milan 27/09/19

27 September 2019

Torino and AC Milan go head-to-head at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino, with the visitors trying to put an end to their five-game Serie A (SA) winless run in H2Hs (D4, L1).

Back-to-back league defeats in the build-up to this clash have annulled Torino’s bright start to the season (W2, L2). Notably, all four of the Bulls’ SA results this season have been settled by a narrow one-goal margin, with three of those matches featuring over 2.5 goals and seeing both teams score. For Torino, most of the action takes part in the second half, as eight of a total of 12 league goals seen in their games so far came after the halftime break. The Maroons proved to be hard to beat when at home, having won five of their last seven SA matches on home turf (W5, D1, L1). Stadio Olimpico di Torino has also been a venue of entertainment lately, with five of those seven matches producing three or more goals and witnessing both teams score at least one.

Meanwhile, the visitors were brushed aside by arch-rivals Internazionale 2-0 in weekend’s derby, which was their second SA loss this term (W2, L2). For Milan, goals have been in short supply so far, as they’ve struggled to score a goal in both of their league defeats while netting one goal apiece in their SA triumphs. Also, four of five goals seen at the Rossoneri’s SA games this season have come in the second half, with three of them arriving beyond the hour mark. Marco Giampaolo’s side will hardly make any progress here, as they’ve failed to beat Torino in all six of their previous SA visits to this venue (D5, L1). The Milanese giants have last managed to keep a clean sheet here in March 2008, conceding at least one goal in eight successive H2Hs here ever since.
