SV Meppen vs Borussia Dortmund II 11/07/19

11 July 2019

The two German lower-league sides will meet face-to-face at the Sportplatz SW Varenrode for a friendly fixture, as SV Meppen take on Borussia Dortmund II.

Competing in the 3. Bundesliga, Meppen have finished the last term 13th in their respective division with a record of 13 wins, eight draws, and 17 defeats. They have already played out three friendlies this summer, enduring mixed fortunes although providing entertainment to their fans (W1, D1, L1). All three of those matches have seen both teams score and produce over 3.5 goals. Meppen’s inability to keep a clean sheet has seen them concede in 13 of their last 14 games while allowing over 1.5 goals per match on six occasions in the process.

Meanwhile, the Borussians currently compete in the Regionalliga West where they finished fifth last season, with a record of 16 wins, eight draws, and ten defeats. But, they are now on an eight-game unbeaten run (W6, D2) after securing two wins in three friendlies after the end of the season (W2, D1). Dortmund hit a free-scoring form over the past few months, having scored 2+ match goals in seven of their last eight outings, scoring a total of 25 goals across those matches. However, a potential worry for BVB II can be the fact that they’ve struggled to keep a clean sheet in nine of their previous ten games.
