Stade Rennes vs Paris Saint-Germain 28/04/19

28 April 2019

Coupe de France final between Stade Rennes and Paris Saint-Germain that takes place at the Stade de France sees the Parisians chasing their third domestic trophy this season.

Winless in their last four competitive games (D2, L2), Rennes are considerable underdogs to win here although they outplayed PSG last year, securing a comfortable 2-0 triumph. Rennes’ fragile defense is the main culprit for their recent struggling, as they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five games across all competitions, conceding over 1.5 match goals in all four. In the same period, Julien Stéphan’s men have, however, managed to net 2+ match goals on three occasions while struggling to find the net once in the process. Also, Les Rouges et Noirs’ last ten competitive games have not been short of entertainment, with seven of them producing 3+ match goals while six of them featured goals on both ends.

The Parisians have mathematically claimed the Ligue 1 title thanks to a 3-1 home win over AS Monaco last time out and are now looking to wrap up their third trophy this term after winning the French Super Cup back in August. Entering this clash as huge favorites, PSG look to post their third straight win over Rennes in H2Hs, with both of their previous victories saw them score 3+ match goals while conceding precisely one per match. Although Paris Saint-Germain struggled to impress in their last five competitive outings (W2, D1, L2), all of those clashes have produced 3+ match goals with four of them featuring goals on both ends. Atypically for PSG, they’ve failed to preserve a clean slate in all four of their previous games, allowing 2+ match goals three times in the process.
