Led by the experienced expert Oscar Tabarez, Uruguay eliminated Portugal in the round of 16 before suffering a 2-0 quarter-finals elimination to France. The 2-time FIFA World Cup winners replicated the impressive form in a friendly meeting with Mexico last month, defeating El Tri by four goals to one.

Koo Ja-cheol, Park Joo-ho, and Suk Hyun-jun will make their national team comeback after skipping the September friendlies. As for the South Americans, the most notable absence will be the one of Barcelona forward Luis Suarez, who has suffered a knee injury.
