South Korea vs Georgia 05/09/19

5 September 2019

South Korea and Georgia will face-off at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium for a friendly meeting that will serve the Asian national team as a warmup for a World Cup qualifying match against Turkmenistan

It will be South Korea’s first H2H meeting with some European nation since a 2-0 World Cup win over Germany. The Koreans have hit a purple patch of form, racking up a four-game unbeaten run ahead of this clash (W3, D1). Apart from a 1-1 draw with Iran, the other three games in that sequence have seen South Korea beat their rivals by a narrow one-goal margin. Even though they’ve suffered just one defeat in their last ten outings (W6, D3, L1), the Taeguk Warriors have struggled to provide their fans with entertainment in that period. Just three of those matches have witnessed goals on both ends, with only one of them producing over 2.5 goals.

Meanwhile, the Crusaders will try to improve on their recent results (W1, L3) in what will be their first clash with an Asian side since a 1-0 loss to Jordan in 2017. Majority of their last eight matches have produced over 2.5 goals (5), with three of them ending with the same 3-0 scoreline in Georgia’s favor. If Jaba Kankava’s men win here, it will probably be to nil, as 16 of their previous 17 triumphs saw them beat their rivals to nil. Likewise, seven of their last nine defeats witnessed Georgia fail to find the back of the net, with six of those games ending with the same 1-0 scoreline against their favor.
