South Korea vs Bolivia 22/03/19

22 March 2019

South Korea and Bolivia will face-off against each other at the Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium in Ulsan in their second friendly meeting in less than a year.

Interestingly, both of their previous H2Hs have ended with the same 0-0 scoreline.

Devastated by a disappointing AFC Asian Cup elimination to eventual winners Qatar, the hosts look to return to winning ways in their sixth outing in 2019. Before suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Qatar, the Taegeuk Warriors have picked up four successive triumphs, including the one over Bahrain that has come after extra time. Before Bahrain managed to find the net in a 2-1 loss, Paulo Bento’s men have kept five clean sheets in a row. However, a potential worry for the Portuguese tactician could be that his players have scored 2+ match goals (in 90 minutes) only once in their last six contests. Another problem for South Korea is the slow start to the game that has seen them score a goal inside the opening 15 minutes just once in that period.

The visitors, meanwhile, come into this meeting after playing out three straight draws. Winless in their last four fixtures (D3, L1), the South Americans prepare for their sixth encounter with the AFC-based side in less than six months (W1, D3, L1). Although Bolivia’s only win in the past year and a half arrived precisely against the Asian team, it’s fair to say they outplayed a low-level Myanmar side. Los Altiplanicos have established themselves as a ‘draw specialists’ lately, as five of their previous eight games have ended without a winner (W1, D5, L2), with three of those stalemates ending with the same 1-1 scoreline. However, goals have not been lacking in Bolivia’s recent games, with five of seven of their previous matches producing over 2.5 goals.
