Sheffield United vs Arsenal 22/10/19

22 October 2019

Sheffield United and Arsenal will face-off at Bramall Lane, as one of the worst home attacks in the Premier League (PL) lock horns with one of the weakest away defenses.

Winless in the last two PL outings (D1, L1), the returnees sit just two points of the relegation zone ahead of their first top-flight H2H meeting with Arsenal since December 2016. A narrow 1-0 triumph the Blades pulled off the last time these two sides met here in a PL fixture will be an encouragement for them to try to put an end to a frustrating three-game losing PL home run. Three of Sheffield’s four home results (win/loss) have ended with the identical 1-0 scoreline (W1, L2) following a goalless first half. The hosts’ goalscoring problems have been tormenting Chirs Wilder since the start of the season, as only three sides have scored fewer league goals than Sheffield (7) so far. The Blades have drawn a blank in four of their last five competitive matches (W1, D1, L3), with each of those four games featuring under 1.5 goals.

Meanwhile, fresh from a 1-0 home win over Bournemouth, the visitors will try to stretch their winning run in H2Hs to three games, with both of their previous successes in H2Hs seeing Arsenal score 3+ match goals and keep a clean sheet. Unai Emery will be desperate to see his team win away from home for the first time since a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United in the PL curtain-raiser, with his side failing to pick up a win in the last three league road trips (D2, L1). After a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool back in August, the Gunners have racked up an eight-game undefeated streak in all competitions (W5, D3). Four of their wins in that period have seen them keep a clean sheet, although only one has arrived away from home. A free-scoring Arsenal side has, however, bagged 2+ match goals in six games during that run.
