Sevilla vs Valencia 31/03/19
31 March 2019
Two sides obliged to achieve all three points in this H2H meeting face-off against each other at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán as Sevilla take on Valencia.
The hosts have managed to halt a five-game La Liga winless run (D1, L4) by pulling off back-to-back league wins over Real Sociedad and Espanyol. Residing sixth in the table with a four-point deficit to fourth-placed Getafe, the Andalusians’ hopes of securing the Champions League football can be rattled should they fail to walk away with all three points. Although they have emerged as one of the toughest hosts in the Spanish top flight during the first half of the season, Los Hispalenses have endured a challenging time in 2019. Joaquín Caparrós’ players have clinched barely two wins in five of their LL home games after the Christmas break (W2, D2, L1). Sevilla’s fragile defense has not only failed to preserve a clean slate in all three of their previous LL home clashes, but they have also allowed 2+ match goals in each.
Meanwhile, the visitors have established themselves as ‘stalemate specialists’ playing out more draws than any other team in the Spanish top tier (16). Unbeaten in their last 15 outings across all competitions (W8, D7), the Bats hope to secure a much-needed triumph here as they currently trail the Champions League promotion zone by six points. The Oranges are also undefeated in their last four LL road clashes (W2, D2) with all of those games saw goals on both ends. Thanks to one of the most unprolific attacks in LL and one of the most stubborn defenses at the same time, just 38.46% of Valencia’s LL away fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals.
