Sevilla vs Real Sociedad 30/09/19

30 September 2019

Two sides from the upper half of the La Liga (LL) table will meet face-to-face at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán this weekend, as Sevilla take on Real Sociedad.

A strong start to the season has seen Sevilla post three wins in the opening four LL fixtures (W3, D1), all of which have come by a narrow one-goal margin. However, a reversal of fortune has witnessed Los Hispalenses lose both of their previous LL outings by a one-goal margin, with all four goals they’ve allowed in those matches arriving beyond the hour mark. But, four triumphs in the last six home LL H2Hs with Real Sociedad (W4, D1, L1) indicates the hosts might be able to turn things around again. Such theory is backed by the fact Los Rojiblancos have won four of their previous six LL home matches (W4, D1, L2), although all of those victories have arrived the last term.

Meanwhile, it’s been a while since the visitors opened the league campaign in such manner, as they’ve won four of six LL fixtures so far (W4, D1, L1). Interestingly, four of Sociedad’s five results this season have seen one of the sides win to nil and score all the goals in one half. But, the traveling side’s bright start is in jeopardy here, as they’ve pulled off only one triumph in their previous six LL H2Hs with Sevilla (W1, D2, L3). Although ‘Txuri-urdinak’ won half of their last six LL trips (W3, D1, L2), the excitement has been in short supply. While two of those matches witnessed both teams score, just one has featured over 2.5 goals, with Imanol Alguacil’s men netting one goal or less five times in the process.
