Sevilla vs Real Betis 14/04/19

14 April 2019

Saturday’s La Liga action concludes with the Andalusian derby between Sevilla and Real Betis as the two bitter rivals go head-to-head at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

Although the hosts endure a mediocre La Liga campaign (W14, D7, L10), they’ve won both of their previous league games, beating their rivals by the identical 2-0 scoreline. Interestingly, seven of Sevilla’s last eight victories across all competitions have seen them defeating their opponents to nil. Far more comfortable at home, Los Hispalenses have secured 30 of their total of 49 LL points at home (61.22%). But, a turbulent period Joaquín Caparrós’ men have been going through over the past couple of months has seen them won just two of their previous five LL home outings (W2, D1, L2). Still, only Barcelona (46) have scored more goals at home than Sevilla (29) this term, with Los Nervionenses bagging 2+ match goals in 10 of 15 LL home fixtures (67%).

Meanwhile, a 2-1 home win over Villarreal last time out has helped the visitors’ end their three-game LL winless streak (D1, L2), as they remain in the race for the European promotion. With seven LL matchdays left to go, Los Verdiblancos trail sixth-placed Valencia by just three points. Betis’ indifferent road form (W5, D3, L7) is the main culprit Quique Setién’s players are not fighting for the Champions League spot. Four defeats in their last seven LL away clashes (W2, D1, L4) indicate it will be a daunting prospect for Betis to pick up a victory against the team that has outplayed them in five of their previous seven top-flight H2Hs at this venue (W2, L5). Also, Béticos have failed to provide entertainment to football fans when playing away from home, as just six of 15 of their LL road games have produced over 2.5 goals.
