Sevilla vs Granada 26/01/20

26 January 2020

Sevilla entertain Granada at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán this weekend, looking to post their third consecutive triumph in La Liga (LL) H2Hs.

Midweek’s 3-1 home triumph over Levante in Coppa del Rey has halted Sevilla’s two-game winless home streak (D1, L1), and it was their third consecutive home game that saw both teams score. But, the Andalusian giants are not having the best of times, as they’ve won only one of their last five LL fixtures (D2, L2), which now puts them eight points adrift of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Interestingly, although just two of those five above matches produced over 2.5 goals, four have witnessed both sides hit the net. Sevilla enjoy hosting Granada, as they’ve won four of their previous five top-flight H2Hs at home (L1), with each of those successes coming via a margin of multiple goals.

Meanwhile, the visitors head to Andalusia on a run of six successive LL away defeats, failing to find the back of the net in the last four. Also, none of their previous three league fixtures has seen both teams score (W1, L2), with two of those results (win/loss) coming via the identical 1-0 score. Far more comfortable on home turf, Diego Martinez’s men have shipped 77% of their total 26 LL goals conceded on the road, allowing over 1.5 goals in five of their last six LL away matches. Also, there’s virtually no coming back for Granada when they concede the opening goal on the road. Indeed, they’ve returned just two points from eight LL away games where they allowed the first goal (D2, L6), with both of those draws coming against the sides from the bottom half of the table.
