Seoul vs Seongnam 31/05/20

31 May 2020

Seoul welcome Seongnam to the Seoul World Cup Stadium, hoping to post their second consecutive win in K League 1 home H2Hs for the first time since 2014.

After a disappointing 3-1 away loss to Gangwon in the league curtain-raiser, the hosts have started to pick up the pace, racking up back-to-back top-flight victories in the build-up to this encounter. Both of Seoul’s K League 1 wins so far have yielded a single-goal margin, with the winner across those matches continually arriving beyond the hour mark. Bringing their home results from the final stretch of the previous league campaign into the equation, the ‘Seoul Dragons’ have won just once in their last five home fixtures (D1, L3), with three of those four results (win/loss) producing a one-goal margin. Another tight affair is on the cards, considering three of their last five top-flight home H2Hs have ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals.

In the meantime, the visitors have yet to taste defeat in the 2020/21 season (W1, D2), with all three of their opening league matches featuring under 2.5 goals. Curiously, three of four league goals Seongnam have either scored or conceded so far have come inside the opening 20 minutes of play. But, away from home, just one of Seongnam’s last ten league fixtures has produced over 2.5 goals, with Kim Nam-il’s players drawing a blank in five of those matches while scoring under 1.5 goals in four of the other five.
