Seongnam vs Jeonbuk Motors 05/09/20

05 September 2020

Seongnam will be desperate to post their elusive first K League 1 home triumph this campaign when they take on Jeonbuk Motors at Tancheon Stadium. It will be a herculean task, though, as they’ve failed to beat their visitors in all three of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (D2, L1).

Seongnam are the only team yet to win at home this season (D3, L6), mainly due to a genuine lack of firepower in the attacking third. Indeed, they have scored under 1.5 goals in all nine of their opening K League 1 home matches, lamenting the division’s lowest scoring ratio of 0.44 goals scored per top-flight home game. Also, Seongnam’s home clashes have been notably tight, with seven of nine producing a full-time margin of under 1.5 goals. The hosts now take the field after failing to pick up a win in three consecutive league fixtures (D1, L2), all of which saw both teams score – with both of those defeats yielding the identical 2-1 scoreline.

Meanwhile, a shock 2-1 home loss to Gangwon last time out inflicted a first K League 1 defeat on Jeonbuk after seven successive games without a loss (W5, D2), as they enter this round four points behind table-toppers Ulsan Hyundai. But, the visitors have secured back-to-back away league wins going into this trip, both of which came via a two-goal margin. In fact, all six of Jeonbuk’s K League 1 away triumphs have seen them score over 1.5 goals. Curiously, the ‘Warriors’ tend to produce a late show when away from home, with six of their nine top-flight trips this term featuring at least one goal scored/conceded in the final 15 minutes of play.
