Seongnam vs Incheon United 17/05/20

17 May 2020

Seongnam welcome Incheon United to the Tancheon Stadium in what looks like a guaranteed ‘low-scoring’ K League 1 affair. In fact, three of their last five league H2Hs have ended with the identical 0-0 scoreline, with the last two both seeing the winner on the day pull of a 1-0 victory.

A 2-0 away success against Gwangju in the league curtain-raiser was Seongnam’s third in their eight K League 1 outings (W3, D1, L4), with five of those seven results (win/loss) yielding a narrow one-goal margin. Furthermore, taking into account their home results from the last season, 11 of Seongnam’s 12 previous league home games have ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals (W5, D3, L4). Goals have been at a premium when these two teams faced off in the league at this venue, given that all six of their previous league H2Hs held here have featured under 1.5 goals (W1, D3, L2).

Meanwhile, a goalless home draw with Daegu on Matchday 1 now means that the visitors have pulled off just a single win in their past five league games (D2, L2), last season included. Away from home, all three of their previous league matches have seen under 2.5 goals and just one side get on the scoresheet (W1, D1, L1). In turn, all seven of their last K League 1 matches have been ‘low-scoring’ affairs, with each featuring under 2.5 goals. During that seven-game sequence, the ‘Mariners’ have bagged over 1.5 matches goals only once, with all four goals they scored in that period coming beyond the hour mark.
