Seongnam vs Gangwon 25/07/20
25 July 2020
Seongnam (8th) and Gangwon (7th) go head-to-head at the Tancheon Stadium in an exciting Korea K League 1 affair, with just a single point separating the sides ahead of the kick-off.
The hosts have brought a seven-game winless league streak to an end with a narrow 1-0 away win over Suwon last time out (D2, L5). Curiously, all but one of their six results (win/loss) during that eight-game sequence saw the winner on the day keep a clean sheet, which has been true in both of Seongnam’s previous victories in the top-flight H2Hs held at this venue. However, a genuine lack of firepower in the final third has seen Seongnam draw a blank in four of their five league home matches this season (D1, L4). In turn, the ‘Seongnam Magpies’ remain one of just two sides yet to smash a 10-goal barrier this term, having netted an average of 0.75 goals per K League 1 fixture.
Meanwhile, the visitors have lost five of their last six league matches (W1), with four of those results yielding a full-time margin of at least two goals. Moreover, the ‘Gangwon Kodiaks’ have picked up just a single win from six top-flight trips this season (D1, L4), drawing a blank in three of those four defeats. Also, a lack of pace in the early stages has seen Gangwon fail to get on the scoresheet inside the opening 30 minutes of play in each of their six K League 1 trips so far. In fact, 60% of their away goals scored/conceded this campaign arrived in the second half of play (9/15).
