Senegal vs Colombia 28/06/18
28 June 2018
After an outstanding performance against Poland in their opening World Cup match, Senegal failed to defeat Japan in the second round, drawing with the Asian side 2-2, as they are now looking to take on Colombia in a head-to-head meeting that will decide the team that will advance to the knockout stage from Group H. The match that will take place at the Cosmos Arena in Samara is going to be the first official match between these two teams, with Les Lions de la Téranga seeking their first win over Los Cafeteros after failing to defeat them in two previous friendlies. José Pékerman’s team lost 2-1 to Japan in the first round but managed to improve their game notably, pulling off a magnificent 3-0 win over Poland in the second round, as they are now seeking a win against the Aliou Cissé’s players to progress to the round of 16. As for Senegal, they have been by far the best African team in Russia this summer, showing great character and squad chemistry, which is why they have a chance to qualify for the knockout stage for the first time since 2002.
Diafra Sakho and Balde Keita, who both are yet to enter the field since the start of the tournament might get an opportunity to help their team secure at least a draw against Colombia who will start the match at full strength.
