Sangju Sangmu vs Ulsan Hyundai 25/07/20

25 July 2020

Sangju Sangmu welcome Ulsan Hyundai to the Sangju Civic Stadium, looking to bring a six-game winless run in their Korea K League 1 H2Hs to a halt (D1, L5).

The hosts have racked up a six-game unbeaten league run going into this clash (W5, D1). Interestingly, all five of those victories have been accompanied by a clean sheet, with four of them producing the identical 1-0 scoreline. Indeed, Sangju have based their home success on a rock-solid defense that has kept a blank sheet in five of their opening six top-flight home games, with a 4-2 defeat to Pohang Steelers being the only exception. Moreover, the ‘Sangju Firebirds’ boast the division’s third-best defensive record (11), having conceded an average of 0.91 goals per K League 1 game.

Meanwhile, a 1-0 home win over Gangwon last time out gave Ulsan a fourth consecutive win across various competitions, three of which yielded at least a two-goal margin. Impressively, the visitors have won all four of their previous league trips, all of which produced a full-time margin of two goals or more. The ‘Ulsan Tigers’ must be confident of extending that run now, as they take on a side they’ve beaten in three of their last four top-flight away H2Hs (D1). Although all three of those triumphs came via a single-goal margin, two saw Ulsan score over 1.5 first-half goals.
