Sangju Sangmu vs Gangwon 16/05/20

16 May 2020

Sangju Sangmu and Gangwon will face off at the Sangju Civic Stadium, with the local side looking to extend their winning run in the K League 1 home H2Hs to three straight games.

The hosts failed to impress in the league curtain-raiser, suffering a 4-0 away loss to Ulsan Hyundai. Interestingly, none of their last nine league encounters has ended in a stalemate (W5, L4), last season included, with six of those matches featuring over 2.5 goals. A draw seems to be an unlikely scenario here, too, given that none of their 14 previous competitive H2Hs has ended in a stalemate (W7, L7). At home, the ‘Sangju Firebirds‘ have won three of their last four league games (L1), scoring over 1.5 goals in each of those successes.

Meanwhile, the visitors got off to a flying start, securing a 3-1 home win over Seoul even though they were trailing 1-0 at the halftime break to snap a four-game winless run from the final stage of the last season (D1, L3). However, the ‘Gangwon Kodiak‘ have failed to pick up a single win in their previous ten league road trips (D3, L7), drawing a blank on five of those occasions. Another potential worry for the traveling side is that they conceded over 1.5 goals in seven of those ten away fixtures. In turn, Kim Byung-soo’s men have lost three of their last four league trips to Sangju (W1), failing to find the back of the net in two of those losses.
