Sandhausen vs Borussia Monchengladbach 10/08/19

10 August 2019

Sandhausen and Borussia Monchengladbach go head-to-head at the Hardtwaldstadion in their 2019/20 DFB Cup campaign with a first-round road tie.

The hosts have struggled to impress in their opening two 2. Bundesliga outings (D1, L1), with both of those games featuring under 2.5 goals. Still, they have done well in their final four pre-season games (W3, D1), with three of those matches producing over 2.5 goals and seeing both teams score. Sandhausen’s indifferent home form in their previous five competitive outings (W2, D1, L2) can be a problem here, especially as they’ve failed to find the net in both of those defeats. What’s more, Uwe Koschinat’s players have struggled to keep a blank sheet across those games, allowing over 1.5 match goals twice though.

On the other hand, the visitors travel here hopeful they can bounce back after two straight games without a win (D1, L1). The Foals have conceded precisely two goals per match on both occasions, stretching their frustrating no-clean-sheet run to five games. Still, Marco Rose’s men have been outstanding this summer before the aforementioned failures, racking up a six-game winning run during which they’ve scored 22 goals and allowed just three. Also, the Prussians have secured three wins in their last six away games across all competitions (W3, D1, L2), all of which have been accompanied by a clean slate. However, a lack of composure in the final third has seen Borussia score one goal or less on five occasions across that period.
