Salzburg vs Feyenoord 13/07/19

13 July 2019

Salzburg and Feyenoord go head-to-head at the Steinbergstadion for a friendly meeting that will see the two sides face off for the first time in the 21st century.

The Austrian side has endured mixed fortunes in their three summer friendlies (W1, D1, L1), with two of those games featuring under 2.5 goals. But, it will be Salzburg’s first high-profile match in the preparations after facing the likes of Arsenal Tula, CSKA Sofia, and the Austrian lower-league outfit Kirchanschoring. Die Roten Bullen have been outstanding in the Austrian Bundesliga last season, wrapping up the sixth consecutive league title with a record of 25 wins, five draws, and two defeats. Salzburg’s remarkable form in the closing stage of the season has seen them put together five straight wins across two domestic competitions, with Jesse Marsch’s men scoring 2+ match goals across all of those triumphs.

Meanwhile, the Dutch giants have won three from three during their preparations so far, with two of those games ending with the same 2-1 scoreline. Feyenoord’s success in the summer friendlies has coincided with their good run of form that has seen them pick up six wins in seven matches in the final stage of last season (W6, L1). Notably, all of those wins have seen Jaap Stam’s men score at least two goals, although just three have been accompanied by a clean sheet. Moreover, 13 of De club aan de Maas’ last 15 games have featured over 2.5 goals while eight saw both teams score.
