Ross County vs Dundee United 15/08/20
15 August 2020
Ross County and Dundee United go head-to-head at the Global Energy Stadium in a potentially low-scoring Scottish Premiership affair. Indeed, four of their previous five competitive H2H clashes have featured under 2.5 goals, including the last three.
A 2-2 home draw with Kilmarnock has brought Ross County’s 100% start to the new league campaign to a halt (W2). Curiously, both of the hosts’ top-flight wins this term have yielded the identical 1-0 scoreline. In turn, Ross County’s home league matches this calendar year have been notably tight, as five of six have featured under 2.5 goals, with all but one ending separating the sides by a full-time margin of under 1.5 goals (W2, D3, L1). Yet, the ‘Staggies’ can draw on a rock-solid defense that has kept a clean sheet in three of those six contests, conceding precisely once per match in two of the other three.
Meanwhile, a 1-0 home defeat to Hibernian has put an end to the visitors’ unbeaten start to their Premiership season (W1, D1). All three of United’s league games have now produced under 1.5 goals, with both of their goals scored across those fixtures coming inside the opening ten minutes of either first or the second half of play. But, a genuine lack of firepower in the attacking third has seen the ‘Terrors’ draw a blank in three consecutive road trips in all competitions (D2, L1) before pulling off a narrow 1-0 win over Motherwell on Matchday 2. Furthermore, they’ve netted under 1.5 goals in all three of their previous competitive trips to Ross County (W1, D1, L1).
