Juventus travel to the Stadio Olimpico to take on Roma in a massive, heavyweight Serie A clash, looking for revenge after seeing their only home league defeat in 2019/20 come at the hands of the capital-based side.

The hosts have been penalized with a 3-0 loss following a clerical error in the make-up of their matchday squad in weekend’s 0-0 stalemate against Hellas Verona. Though bouncing back against the reigning champions might seem like a daunting prospect, the ‘Giallorossi’ have suffered just one loss in their last six top-flight H2Hs held in Rome (W3, D2, L1). Additionally, Roma have kept four clean sheets in ten of their previous competitive home H2Hs, conceding precisely once per game in five of the other six. By contrast, Paulo Fonseca’s men failed to shut out their visitors of the day in 17 of 19 Serie A home fixtures back in 2019/20, conceding an average of 1.42 goals per home league match.

On the other hand, the visitors have managed to overcome a disappointing end to the last season (L2), brushing aside Sampdoria 3-0 at home in their Serie A curtain-raiser. Yet, the ‘Bianconeri’ lost three of their final four league trips back in 2019/20 (D1), conceding 2+ goals on all of those occasions. Curiously, eight of Juventus’ ten Serie A away games this calendar year have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet, with half (five) of them yielding the identical 2-1 scoreline. Perhaps surprisingly, but Andrea Pirlo’s men failed to keep a blank sheet in a clear majority (78.95%) of their Serie A trips back last season (15/19).
