Roma vs Fiorentina 27/07/20
27 July 2020
Roma and Fiorentina will face off at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend in what promises to be a high-scoring Serie A contest. Indeed, all three of their previous competitive H2H meetings have featured over 3.5 goals and both teams scoring.
Although a 6-1 thrashing of SPAL last time out now means that the hosts won four of their previous five Serie A games (D1), it also signifies the ‘Giallorossi’ have conceded at least once in eight of their nine league matches post restart. Improving that record will be hard here, given that they’ve shipped one goal or more in each of their last six H2Hs in various competitions (W2, D2, L2). Interestingly, though, the capital-based giants have lost only half (five) of the ten Serie A home fixtures in which they conceded the opening goal (W3, D2). Indeed, if Paulo Fonseca’s men win here, they are likely to score at least twice, as they did in all nine of their top-flight home triumphs this season.
Meanwhile, the visitors take the field after avoiding defeat in six Serie A matches in a row (W3, D3), four of which featured under 2.5 goals. Against this backdrop, four of Fiorentina’s last six league trips have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet (W3, L1). However, a lackluster second-half approach has seen Giuseppe Iachini’s side ship 69.57% (16) of the 23 Serie A away goals conceded after the break, while scoring just 52% (13) of the 25 away goals in the same timeframe. Additionally, the ‘Viola’ have allowed over 1.5 goals in six of their last seven top-flight trips to Rome (W1, D1, L5).
