Reims vs PSG 28/09/20
28 September 2020
Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to bring a three-game winless away Ligue 1 run against Reims to a halt (D2, L1) when the two sides meet at the Stade Auguste-Delaune this weekend.
It’s been a disastrous start to the season for Reims so far, as they’ve suffered three Ligue 1 defeats in a row after being held to a 2-2 away draw to Monaco on Matchday 1. Curiously, each loss came via a narrow one-goal margin, with Reims’ only goal scored across those three games arriving from the penalty kick. But, ‘Les Rouges et Blancs’ can find inspiration in the fact that they won both of their Ligue 1 H2Hs back last season, each by a two-goal margin. Low scoring has been a theme for David Guion’s team at home this calendar year, as four of their five league matches held at this venue have featured under 1.5 goals.
Meanwhile, the visitors seem to have managed to overcome a crisis from the beginning of the season, going from two consecutive Ligue 1 defeats to back-to-back wins. Curiously, each of those four results (wins/losses) have seen the winner on the day keep a clean sheet, with three yielding the identical 1-0 scoreline. Notably, free-scoring PSG have netted over 1.5 goals in five of six Ligue 1 trips this calendar year, scoring an average of 2.5 goals across those fixtures. However, ‘Les Parisiens’ have picked up just a single win from their five top-flight trips to Reims (D2, L2), bagging under 1.5 goals on three of those occasions.
