Reims vs Paris Saint-Germain 25/05/19

25 May 2019

Mid-table Reims welcome Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain to the Stade Auguste-Delaune for their final match of the 2018-19 league campaign.

Stuck in the middle of the table, the hosts won’t improve their ranking status regardless of the outcome of this encounter. Although they go into this clash off the back of a narrow 1-0 away win over Bordeaux, David Guion’s men have not been enjoying the best of times lately, having failed to wrap up three points in seven preceding L1 outings (D3, L4). Moreover, Les Rouge et Blanc have struggled to pick up a win in the last three L1 home games, with two of them featuring under 2.5 goals. For Reims, goals have been at a premium ever since early March. They have bagged one goal or less in nine of their previous ten L1 fixtures, with only Nice scoring fewer goals than Reims (36) of all teams from the upper half of the table this term.

Meanwhile, the visitors seem to have managed to overcome a slight crisis, as they’ve secured back-to-back league wins ahead of this meeting, scoring six goals while conceding just one in the process. A 2-1 win over Angers has brought PSG’s three-game away losing streak to a halt, as they can still proudly boast L1’s best road record (W12, D2, L4). Frustratingly for them, the Parisians have allowed over 2.5 match goals in all three of the aforementioned failures, although they’ve netted 2+ match goals twice across those games. Regardless, Thomas Tuchel and his men head to Reims looking to stretch their unbeaten run in H2Hs to eight games (W5, D2).

Interestingly, all five of the previous H2H meetings between these sides have seen both teams score, with four of them producing over 3.5 goals.
