Real Salt Lake vs Los Angeles FC 10/09/20
10 September 2020
Real Salt Lake will be hoping to post their elusive first MLS home triumph over Los Angeles FC (L2) when the two clubs meet at the Rio Tinto Stadium this midweek.
Winless in three MLS matches in a row (D2, L1), Real Salt Lake will face a daunting prospect of returning to winning ways as they take on a side they’ve lost to in all three of their previous competitive H2Hs. The hosts can’t rely much on a home form either, given they’ve picked up just a single win from five MLS outings this term (D3, L1). Low scoring has been a theme for the ‘Claret and Cobalt’ at home this season, with 80% of their MLS home fixtures featuring under 2.5 goals (4/5). Yet, Freddy Juarez’s men have been much more prolific after the break, with four of their five top-flight goals scored at home arriving in the second half of play.
Meanwhile, a 3-0 away loss to Los Angeles Galaxy last time out now means that none of FC’s previous four MLS games has ended in a draw (W1, L3). Curiously, each of those results (wins/losses) saw the winner on the day break the deadlock and prevail by 2+ goals at FT. Furthermore, Bob Bradley’s men have lost both of their MLS trips this term, conceding precisely three goals apiece while netting just one in total. The majority of action across those matches took place in the second half, as six of those seven goals scored/conceded came after the half-time break. Notably, though, all three of Los Angeles’ previous competitive trips to Salt Lake resulted in at least a two-goal margin triumph.
